About the writer

The writer is a serving councillor on a local authority in England and Wales. The writer has served as a councillor since before the creation of the Standards Board for England. The writer has experienced the Standards Board for England as both a complainant and as an individual who has been investigated by the same body. The writer has had the opportunity to experience the Standards Board for England together with the Code of Conduct for Councillors firsthand and can speak on some authority on the subject of this watchdog.

The writer is keen to see the Standards Board for England, together with the Code of Conduct for Councillors, abolished with the powers to investigate and deal with complaints about councillors transferred to county councils or their equivalent. The writer would like the Code of Conduct for Councillors to be made simpler and voluntary.

The writer hopes that the visitor will find this website informative and encourages feedback via e-mail or on the site messageboard.
