1 http://www.bushywood.com/standards_board.htm
This is an unofficial web site that campaigns against what it sees as corruption in local government. One page is dedicated to the Standards Board for England. It looks like the page has not been updated in a while and is not quite correct. The site mentions the SBE will oversee the conduct of councillors and council workers (not correct - the SBE deals only with councillors conduct) and that there is 20,000 councillors (not correct - there is approx 100,000 councillors). The site refers to Doncaster, Hull and Westminster councils as having had problems that the SBE could have addressed but confuses the role of the SBE, who only deals with complaints about councillors, and the Local Government Ombudsman who is the one who addresses problems in councils (excluding parish level councils). The site said that two thirds of complaints to the SBE are thrown out but encourages the visitor to complain to the SBE as "the odds of your complaint bagging a bad councillor, is a reasonable 50 to 1".
2 http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/garbagegate/
A colourful individual site on a variety of topics that has sections on the SBE. The site offers some interesting case studies that indicate failings by the SBE. The site states of SBE 'investigators' "the tendency for the 'investigators' to draw conclusions based on personal prejudice rather than the evidence and a tendency to make arbitrary decisions in the absence of evidence." The site refers to the case of a councillor at Macclesfield Borough Council who appeared to be a victim of political moves that the SBE became involved in. The SBE suffered a defeat in the courts over what was considered its poor handling of the Macclesfield councillor's case. The site mentions case studies involving Macclesfield and Hull councils that involve individuals using the SBE to destroy political rivals. The site refers to the process that decides councillor fates as "kangaroo courts". The writer was interested in this statement by the site: "p.s. It is a closely guarded secret that complaints about the Standards Board can be made to the Parliamentary Ombudsman. But those who dare to exercise this right are subjected to further routine intimidation by the Board. Hot on the heels of a complaint comes a threat from the Standards Board of prosecution because its victim has divulged confidential information."

This site appears to have a connection to the Liberal Party. The site is a blogger dedicated to issues about the SBE. The writer notes that the Liberal Party are one of several political parties who consider the SBE should be abolished. The site acts as a feed to the many of the more significant stories that hit the media about the SBE. The site highlights many of the failings of the SBE.
